New Product: Roland GO:PIANO88 and Alexa Integration

Roland has just unveiled the GO:PIANO88 (GO-88P), the latest addition to their innovative GO-series of instruments and devices, at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). As its name implies, this is an 88-note (full-size) portable digital piano.

The GO:PIANO88 delivers a small but impressive collection of presets derived from Roland’s professional range of digital pianos. But it is the “GO” side of things that sets this instrument (and its smaller sibling the 61-note GO:PIANO) apart.

These elegant, lightweight (7.5kg / 3.9kg) digital pianos feature high-quality onboard stereo speakers, optional battery operation, and Bluetooth connectivity. They are therefore extremely portable—no cables required. Truly GO:ANYWHERE!

Smartphone Powered Tuition

When linked to a smartphone or tablet, the Roland GO:PIANO88 becomes a neat and powerful learning tool. It allows students to access free piano lessons, tutorial videos, even karaoke.

Roland is making a big thing of their GO-Series range of fun and educational devices. They all offer Bluetooth inter-connectivity so they can be hooked up to a smartphone for tuition and audio streaming. The line-up currently includes:

Aerophone GO — an affordable digital wind instrument
GO:KEYS — a portable keyboard instrument
GO:MIXER and GO:MIXER PRO — compact audio mixers for audio and video productions.

GO:PIANO with Amazon Alexa

Also on show for the very first time was something very special—a prototype Roland GO:PIANO with Alexa Built-in.

This opens up a whole world of new possibilities and could be a real game-changer. Alexa, Amazon’s digital personal assistant, will enable voice-control access to all manner of different parameters including the ability to change sounds and settings. One’s hands need never leave the keyboard.

Alexa can also be used to help in other ways including: voice controlled tutorials; voice and accompaniment selection; hands-free recording operation; metronome time changes, etc. Alexa will speak/play through the piano’s onboard speakers.

The Alexa equipped GO:PIANOs will be released in Autumn 2019.

The new Roland GO:PIANO88 (without Alexa) will be available from mid-February 2019.

GO:PIANO88 (GO-88P) Prices: USD to be confirmed; EUR 429.00; GBP 378.00.
