Roland has expanded its range of digital home pianos by introducing the F107 and RP107 models. The company has also released the Roland Piano App — an upgrade to the Piano Every Day app.

These two new Roland digital pianos are considered entry-level models. They are primarily designed for the home and include some of the premium features found on Roland’s higher-end instruments.

F-Series and RP-Series home pianos are very similar. The only difference between the two is the console cabinet. The F-Series instruments have a modern styling with clean minimal lines. By contrast RP-Series models have a more traditional upright design.

The cabinet of the F107 is based on Roland’s award-winning F701 (Red Dot Design Award 2021). The F107 has a smart, streamlined look about it, and has a small enough footprint to fit into any sized modern room. The elegant full-width hinged lid doubles as a rest for sheet music or a mobile device.

The RP107 with its profiled end-cheeks has that more traditional timeless styling. It too has a small footprint. It has a built-in music rest, whilst the lid mechanism slides out from under the top panel to protect the keyboard.

Both instruments employ Roland’s SuperNATURAL Piano sound engine. Using a combination of sampling and modelling, this technology has been recognised as an excellent source of complex and nuanced piano sounds.

The F107 and RP107 use Roland’s PHA-4 Standard keyboard. PHA stand for Progressive Hammer Action. The keyboard emulates the feel of an acoustic piano, with the bass notes feeling heavier than those in the treble. Roland produces three different PHA-4 keyboards – Standard, Premium and Concert. These Roland digital pianos have the standard variant which offers a slightly shorter key length.

Features

The F107 and RP107 digital pianos’ main features include:

  • Roland’s acclaimed SuperNATURAL Piano sound engine
  • 88-note PHA-4 Standard keyboard
  • 256 notes of polyphony
  • Sustain, soft, and sostenuto pedals

  • Compatible with the new Roland Piano App
  • Dual headphones jacks and Twin Piano mode for playing with a colleague or teacher
