On the eve of 29th September 2024 a spectacular concert featuring 100 Pearl River Group pianos took place beneath the 600m tall Canton Tower in Guangzhou, China.
The themed music event, entitled “Sing for China”, was held to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
On October 1st 1949, Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong declared the foundation of the PRC. This ended the civil war between the Chinese Communist Party and the Nationalist Party (KMT) which had started immediately following World War II.
The stunning China 75 event featured over 1,000 participants and centred around 100 grand pianos from the Pearl River Piano Group.
Pearl River
Established in 1956, Pearl River Piano is considered to be the world’s largest piano manufacturer. The company is based locally in Guangzhou and takes its name from the river that flows through the city. Pearl River Piano Group’s main acoustic piano brands are Pearl River, Kayserburg, and Ritmüller. It also manufactures a comprehensive range of digital pianos.
An array of 99 pristine white Pearl River grand pianos, perfectly arranged to form “75”, dominated the stage. And at their centre, sat on a raised platform, was a very special Kayserburg grand piano painted in crimson red (the colour of the Chinese national flag), symbolising the spirit and energy of China’s 75th anniversary.
The celebrations, which included a drone light display, featured pianists of all ages and included singers from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. All contributed to a dazzling visual and musical performance set at an iconic location.
